Over seven seasons, the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation went through many different looks, and no one more so than actors Michael Dorn (as Lt. Worf) and Marina Sirtis (as Counselor Troi). With the recent Blu-ray release of both Season 6 of Star Trek: TNG and one of the best episodes of the series, the dark two-part episode titled "Chain of Command," BuzzFeed invited both actors to revisit several of their looks from all seven seasons of the show.

The process proved to be not so easy!

Shocker! "Community" Has Been Renewed!

via BuzzFeed

By Yahoo. By Yahoo?

Sony

Though NBC didn't renew Community for a sixth season (much to the internet's dismay), the comedy has gotten a reprieve from an unexpected place — Yahoo.

The show will return in the fall for 13 episodes during its sixth season, fulfilling half of its #sixseasonsandamovie promise.

Sony, Community's producer, shopped the cult comedy actively, but found no buyers on cable or at Netflix or Hulu. With the hold on the show's cast expiring today, June 30, Yahoo appears to have swooped in at the last minute.

For its part, Yahoo, under its video umbrella, Yahoo Screen, has recently committed to trying to challenge the streaming services (which also include Amazon). In April, Yahoo's CEO Marissa Mayer announced that they company had picked up two new full-length comedy series for eight-episode seasons. They will be ad-supported like Hulu, not a subscription service such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.

In addition to the cast, Community creator Dan Harmon will also be back. In the press release announcing the Season 6 renewal, he was quoted: "I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!"

Bryan Singer Has Shared A Sneak Peek Of "X-Men: Apocalypse"

via BuzzFeed

It’s the first page of the treatment for the sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past , though he still has not officially signed a deal to direct the film.

On Monday, director Bryan Singer launched a new Instagram account with a shot of the first page of the treatment for X-Men: Apocalypse, the sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It references the Nile, and "the Four Horsemen," the henchmen of the powerful mutant Apocalypse — clearly evoking the post-credits sequence for Singer's film X-Men: Days of Future Past , which became the top-grossing film in the franchise globally.

Singer has long been set as a producer for Apocalypse, but his status on the film as a director has been in flux in the wake of sexual assault lawsuits filed against him in April and May. And BuzzFeed has confirmed that while Singer remains attached to direct the project, he has not yet signed a firm deal with 20th Century Fox for the job.

Audiences Still Cannot Get Enough Of Michael Bay's "Transformers"

via BuzzFeed

Transformers: Age of Extinction opened with an estimated $100 million — yet another major hit in the blockbuster franchise. But what would happen if Bay stopped directing them?

Transformers: Age of Extinction

Paramount Pictures

Critics may tie themselves in knots over the bombast and excess; film buffs may decry the abdication of all laws cinematic logic and visual coherence; but audiences still clearly love going to see Transformers movies directed by Michael Bay.

Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth film in seven years in the franchise, opened this weekend with an estimated $100 million in U.S. box office. That cleanly round figure may drop a bit once final numbers are in, but as it stands now, Age of Extinction has landed the best domestic opening weekend of 2014. It also rates a bit higher than the first three days of release for 2007's Transformers ($98.2 million, when adjusting for inflation) and 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($98 million, adjusted). (The second film in the franchise, 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, is by far the best performer, grossing an inflation-adjusted $136 million in its first three days of release.) In fact, the only thing that really sets Age of Extinction apart from its brethren — other than its brand new cast, replacing Shia LaBeouf with Mark Wahlberg — is the fact that it debuted over a traditional weekend instead of opening on a Tuesday or Wednesday like the previous three films.

For Bay, Age of Extinction is yet another win in what has been a nearly unblemished box office record — only 2005's big-budget sci-fi thriller The Island was a total bomb. (Bay's Pain and Gain did only pull in $49.8 million in the U.S. last year, but expectations for the R-rated, low-budget crime thriller were far more modest.) Bay could keep making Transformers movies for as long as audiences keep flocking to them, and with an "A-" rating from audience polling firm CinemaScore, this franchise could apparently keep chugging along for many more years to come.

The question now is whether Bay wants to keep chugging along with it.

Michael Bay on the Transformers: Age of Extinction set with actress Nicola Peltz

Andrew Cooper / Paramount Pictures

In April, Bay told Entertainment Weekly that while Age of Extinction is meant to be "the first of a new trilogy," he was "not necessarily sure" that he would be directing the rest of them. Since then, Bay has not yet entered into formal conversations with Paramount about directing more Transformers movies, according to a source close to the production.

While a Paramount executive reportedly announced that the studio is planning for Transformers 5 to open in 2016, Paramount has also not actually set a firm release date for any future movies in the franchise. Nor would they, until Bay decides what he is doing next.

Like with Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, the Transformers movies are completely identified with Bay's bigger-and-louder-is-better aesthetic. But more than a third of the 49-year-old's filmography as a director is made up of Transformers movies. At some point, Bay may just decide that he's no longer interested in making movies about giant robots laying waste to major metropolitan areas. And the franchise will have to undergo its biggest transformation yet: What will a Transformers movie look like with someone other than Michael Bay at the helm?

"They Came Together" Is Full Of The Greatest Romantic Comedy Clichés

via BuzzFeed

In David Wain’s new film, the comedian and Wet Hot American Summer director perfectly spoofs the rom-com genre. But that’s only because he’s a big fan.

Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd in They Came Together

Lionsgate

The new film They Came Together is the kind of spoof only someone intimately familiar with romantic comedy conventions could make. And director and screenwriter David Wain is the first to admit that he loves rom-com. The movie centers on Joel (Paul Rudd) and Molly (Amy Poehler), a pair of attractive, nice New Yorkers with lives so formlessly bland they come across as utterly insane. They meet cute, they hate each other until they realize they've fallen in love, there's a twist, and another twist, and of course, a dramatic happy ending.

They Came Together opened in theaters this weekend after premiering at Sundance earlier this year, but it's a project Wain and his co-writer and longtime collaborator Michael Showalter have been planning for a while — they'd hoped to make it their follow-up to Wain's 2001 directorial debut Wet Hot American Summer, but it took years for the film to finally get made. The result is a star-studded parody that's sharp but affectionate, including nods to When Harry Met Sally and You've Got Mail as well as plenty of gags that reference nothing but Wain's particular sense of humor. He talked BuzzFeed through some of his favorite clichés of the genre that turn up in the movie.

53 Surprising Facts About Your Favorite Romantic Comedies

via BuzzFeed

All is fair in love and war and movies.

Chris Ritter / BuzzFeed

Note: You might be asking yourself, "What counts as a romantic comedy?" and "How do you know what romantic comedies I like, BuzzFeed?" These are both good questions! I used BuzzFeed's How Many Romantic Comedies Have You Seen quiz as a guide to determine which movies fall in the category and focused mostly on movies that were released in the '90s and '00s. As for how I know what you like? I'm just that good.

1. Emma Thompson wore a fat suit in Love Actually.

2. Betty White almost didn't take her role in The Proposal because she didn't want to leave her golden retriever.

3. A menu screen from Never Been Kissed was used in the original Blu-Ray and DVD of Fight Club. David Fincher says he wanted an unpopular movie from the same year that Fight Club was released.

4. At the Amsterdam premiere of Music and Lyrics, a journalist handcuffed herself to Hugh Grant and walked the red carpet with him.

5. In Jenna's room in 13 Going on 30 on the day of her 13th birthday party, there is a framed picture of Madonna on her vanity table, leaned on the mirror. When she is 30, she comes across the same photograph, but it is signed.

6. The "Penis Song," which can be seen on unedited version of The Sweetest Thing, was written by Cameron Diaz, Selma Blair, and Christina Applegate.

7. Jennifer Garner got the role in 13 Going on 30 because her speech when she won a Golden Globe in 2012 for Alias was so endearing.

8. Jennifer Lopez is featured on both the Sparkle and Poise magazine covers — which is kinda goofy because she was in a serious relationship with Ben Affleck, who would later become Jennifer Garner's husband.

Former NBC President Garth Ancier Sues Bryan Singer Accuser

via BuzzFeed

Garth Ancier was a defendant in a sexual assault lawsuit filed by Michael Egan, who also targeted X-Men director Bryan Singer. Egan dropped his suit against Ancier this week, and now Ancier is countersuing him for malicious prosecution.

The Associated Press

Garth Ancier, the former president of NBC, sued Michael Egan today for malicious prosecution. The suit also targets Egan's attorneys, Jeff Herman and Michael Gallagher.

Egan had accused Ancier in April of sexually assaulting him when he was underage. Egan also sued X-Men director Bryan Singer and Hollywood executives David Neuman and Gary Goddard for sexual assault.

Egan dropped his lawsuit against Ancier on Wednesday. He also dropped his case against Neuman earlier this month.

All the defendants in Egan's suits strenuously deny the allegations and have filed motions to have the suits dismissed. But Ancier's countersuit is the first official return volley. "As noted in the Complaint, the improper ulterior motive of the Defendants and the obvious lack of evidence supporting their claims render them liable for malicious prosecution and abuse of process," said Ancier's lawyer, Louise Ann Fernandez, in a statement.

Egan alleges that Ancier and others sexually assaulted him at the Los Angeles mansion of Marc Collins-Rector, CEO of early internet video streaming company Digital Entertainment Network, or DEN. However, he filed his lawsuit in Hawaii, alleging that abuse had also occurred on trips to the island.

In his civil complaint, Ancier alleges that Egan fabricated the allegations and filed the suit in Hawaii in order to bypass California's statute of limitations on sex abuse cases.

"Mike Egan maintains that he was sexually abused by Garth Ancier in both Hawaii and California," Herman, Egan's attorney, said in a statement. "This is nothing more than an attempt to silence victims."
