The rocker, who previously struggled with substance abuse, has died, his wife said.
Scott Weiland, the former singer of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died at age 48, his wife, Jamie, confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.
Weiland was the frontman for the Grammy-award winning rock band Stone Temple Pilots that formed in 1986. He was scheduled to perform with his latest group, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, in Minnesota, but the show was cancelled.
A representative for Weiland could not immediately be reached by BuzzFeed News.
