OK, America, I’ve gathered us all here today because there’s something special happening in the U.K. right now and it deserves our attention.

A really good pop star, Fleur East, released a really great single, “Sax,” and we, collectively, need to get behind both.

Some quick background: Fleur East is a two-time X Factor alum, who competed on the show’s second and eleventh seasons. The 28-year-old singer originally appeared as part of the girl group, Addictiv Ladies, but went solo after they were eliminated in 2005. After a couple of failed singles, she re-auditioned for the show alone in 2014 and went on to finish second. Now, she’s signed to Simon Cowell’s record label and prepping her debut album, Love, Sax and Flashbacks.

Too often a really good pop star with a really great song surfaces in the U.K. and we, as Americans, choose not to pay attention.

Sure, Ella Henderson’s “Ghost” did ~OK~ here and most Americans know what Rita Ora ~looks like~, but neither woman gets a fraction of the respect or attention they deserve. And Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (née Tweedy, formerly Cole)? We just straight-up dropped the ball with her. "Fight For This Love," "Parachute," and "Call My Name" all should've been huge hits here.
