The Grey’s Anatomy alumna will return for the 2014-2015 season, along with a Casey Wilson comedy and very complex Israeli-adapted spy drama. They join three previously announced series.
NBC is bringing Katherine Heigl and Casey Wilson back to television for the 2014-2015 season.
The network had already ordered a comedy from Tina Fey that stars Ellie Kemper and another centering on unofficial Judd Apatow troupe member Craig Robinson (The Office), plus the already-announced Charles Manson-centric event series Aquarius that brings David Duchovny back on the force. But on May 6, NBC added another comedy that stars Wilson and Ken Marino, as well as two new dramas: a complex spy drama based on an Israeli series that seems like The Americans 2.0 and a Katherine Heigl vehicle that pits her as television's new Olivia Pope.
The Peacock network will officially present its 2014-2015 schedules to advertisers next week, but here are NBC's shows so far:
State of Affairs
Who's in it? Katherine Heigl, Alfre Woodard, Adam Kaufman, Sheila Vand, Cliff Chamberlain, Tommy Savas, and Leslie Odom Jr.
Who created it? Joe Carnahan (The Blacklist) and Heigl and her mother are among the executive producers
What's it about? Every day, top CIA analyst Charleston Tucker (Heigl) assembles the Daily Briefing — a list of the most vital security issues facing the nation – for the president (Alfre Woodard). And Charlie (as Heigl's character is called) has a close relationship with the president since she was once engaged to her son, who was killed in a terrorist attack, which Charlie just barely survived. Now, she wants justice. Basically, Katherine Heigl is the new Olivia Pope.
NBC
Mr. Robinson
Who's in it? Craig Robinson and Bob Koldyke
Who created it? Mark Cullen and Rob Cullen
What's it about? The six-episode comedy series stars Craig Robinson as a journeyman musician who gets a job as a music teacher at a middle school. So, it's kind of like Bad Teacher, but with Craig Robinson.

Aquarius
Who's in it? David Duchovny is back on the force (but searching for murderers, not the paranormal)
Who created it? John McNamara
What's it about? This 13-episode event series is set in the '60s and centers on a L.A. cop who goes undercover to track Charles Manson and the Manson Family before their infamous murder spree. Aquarius is the second Charles Manson project in the works: There is a limited series in development at Fox with Bret Easton Ellis writing and Rob Zombie directing.
